“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” - Matthew 5:16

We are the light of the world sent out by Jesus to share with others the life-changing news of His life, death, and resurrection. As we live everyday of our lives on this mission, people will be drawn to Jesus through our words and actions and glorify God. None of us can do it by ourselves, but we all must do something to fulfill the Great Commission. God has gifted each one of His people with unique gifts and abilities for the purpose of using to serve others for His glory. This fall on Sunday, September 26th, we are excited to “Serve Our City” for the good of our community and the sake of the Gospel.

After our services are finished that morning, everyone will be invited to join us for lunch in the banquet center. There, we will have a time of training and fellowship before being dismissed to go out and serve in our community. This will be a great day for us as a church to live out the command of Jesus in John 21:10, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” We are the sent people of God to be His hands and feet to our neighbors and the nations.

Please begin praying now for those who will serve with us and for the lives that will be impacted by the Gospel through this day. Pray about how you might serve alongside us on one of our many ministry teams. Most of all, pray that through our serving, God would be glorified and people would begin following Jesus as we display and boldly share what He has done for us.

Our Outreach Teams will minister in some of the least reached areas of our community. They will host events designed to help connect the community with the local church or ministry. Each team will be given specific tasks, but all will be reaching out to the community by building relationships and sharing the gospel.

Brookshire Village, Country Club Manor, Faith Community Bible Church, Ravinia Estates, and Storyline Church

Our School Projects Team will be serving at several of our local schools doing projects that have been given to us by administration. This is a tangible way for our church to show Christ’s love, build relationships to our schools and community, and open doors for the gospel to be shared.

Every year, hundreds of refugees move to St. Louis to escape war, poverty or persecution. The Refugee Team will partner with Oasis International to deliver gift baskets to refugee families. The team will spend time with these families, visiting, as they build relationships and share the gospel.

Hunger affects hundreds of thousands of Missourians. Our Food Drive Team will partner with the Jefferson County Rescue Mission by collecting canned goods from local neighborhoods in the area to help meet both the physical and spiritual needs of those who come for help.

Prayer is the foundation to all that we do. It is the fuel that make missions go. It not only shows our dependence on God, but it allows Him to receive all the glory when He moves through our hands and feet. During Serve Our City, our Prayer Team will specifically pray for God to move in the midst of each ministry in great and mighty ways, as only He can.

As this is a church-wide event, we have hundreds of people join us for lunch during Serve Our City. This year, our Lunch Team will be hard at work preparing and serving lunch, delivering meals and spending time with our homebound church members, and praying for the ministry taking place during the afternoon.
