NEXT GENERATION

Our Next Generation Ministry includes groups from babies to college and existS to advance the Gospel
through a biblical strategy collaborating with parents, leaders, and students for their spiritual formation.

FIRST FRIENDS

First Friends is dedicated to preparing the next generation to serve in God’s Kingdom. We are partnering with parents to provide the spiritual,
social, physical and emotional ingredients necessary to form a firm foundation for life.

SUNDAY

ON SUNDAY MORNINGS, CHILDREN, SIX-WEEKS THROUGH AGE FIVE ARE ASSIGNED TO PRESCHOOL ROOMS BASED ON THEIR DATE OF BIRTH.
THEY ARE LOVED AND CARED FOR IN THEIR CLASSROOM, ALLOWING THEIR PARENTS TO ATTEND SMALL GROUPS AND CORPORATE WORSHIP WITHOUT WORRY OR CONCERN.

WEDNESDAY

First Friends loves participating in our Awana Clubs.  Puggles® recognizes the learning ability of 2 1/2 and 3-year olds by introducing biblical truth at church and equipping parents to teach them at home, while Cubbies® celebrates the spiritual potential of preschoolers (3- to 5-year olds) by helping them develop respect for God, His Son and His Word.  For information on our Awana  Clubs program, please see the First Kids Wednesday tab.

SICK CHILDREN

For the protection of all children, parents are asked not to drop off a sick child. Upon the recommendation of the Committee on control of Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child should not be taken from home when any of the following exist:
• A fever, vomiting or diarrhea currently or within the previous 24 hours
• Any symptom of a childhood disease such as scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chickenpox or whooping cough
• Common Cold-from onset through one week
• Sore throat, Croup or persistent cough or green runny nose
• Any unexplained rash
• Head lice
• Pink eye or other eye infection
• Hand, foot and mouth disease

If a child develops a fever or other symptoms of illness while at church, he/she will be isolated and the parents contacted to take the child home.

MEET YOUR MINISTRY LEADER

Shelly Straher is our director of First Friends. In her spare time, you can find her enjoying an ice cream
from Ronnie’s (yes, the movie theater…we don’t know, just go with it like we do, okay?) and hanging out
with her husband Dale and the rest of her family, who she treasures most deeply. She demonstrates an
incredible care for each of the kids in First Friends and is always looking for a reason to host a tiny
dance party. She can’t wait to meet your family!

PARENT RESOURCES

Along with the rest of Next Generation Ministry, we teach The Gospel Project, which immerses preschoolers in the gospel through every story, theological concept, and call to mission from Genesis to Revelation. Ultimately, the gospel message changes everything; heart transformation can only take place when a child experiences the gospel. Through The Gospel Project for Kids, preschoolers will understand that the Bible is not just a collection of stories, but one unified story—God’s story of redemption.

FIRST KIDS

First Kids strives to come alongside parents as they raise kids, Kindergarten through 5TH Grade. Kids are taught the love of God through
connections made with our wonderful First Kids Team. We strive to make every moment we have with them count for the glory of God.

SUNDAY

When does First Kids meet? -  First Kids currently offers two identical one-hour large groups at 9:30 and 11 am on Sundays. Please arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the service to give us time to sanitize.  In Kids Worship, we worship God in a way that is fun and understandable for your children.  We use the Gospel Project which take kids on a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture. Kids will discover how the gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation. When kids truly experience the gospel, their hearts are transformed. It is the gospel, not good behavior, that changes everything.

Our First Kids Plus+ Class takes place at 11 a.m. for children who are here for both the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. In First Kids Plus+ kids will have serious fun as they learn how to apply their weekly Bible lesson to their daily life. First Kids Plus+ will be a safe, fast-moving, Bible-centered fun time as loving leaders will help the kids expand on their Kids Worship lesson by rotating from:

  • high energy socially distanced games
  • delicious individually packaged snacks
  • safe and creative crafts
  • exciting hands-on mission projects and stories
  • fun, age-appropriate Bible videos

WEDNESDAY (AWANA Clubs)

First Baptist Church of Arnold's AWANA Clubs is for children two-and-a-half years old (born 02/01/2019) through fifth grade. The goal of AWANA Clubs is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.

“The name AWANA is an acrostic which stands for "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" and is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. AWANA provides a special place for your children to make new friends, play exciting games, compete in rewarding and challenging contests, receive awards as reinforcements for their good performance, and have opportunities to learn and memorize God's Word, the Bible.

Sparks® ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids, Kindergarten- 2ND grade, to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ.

The T&T (Truth & Training) curriculum teaches kids 3RD – 5TH grade the truth of God's Word, and trains them to follow Him and practice His grace.

Our 2021 – 2022 Awana Club year is from Wednesday, Sept 8, 2021 – May 11, 2022.  Our clubs meet from 6:30 – 8 p.m.  Click “Awana Manual” below for detailed information about our Awana Clubs

KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Boost is our First Kids ministry for children with special needs. Caring for and investing in kids with special needs and their families, empowering them through a community rooted in faithful love and intentional kindness for God’s glory is our goal.

Here at First Arnold, we have two rooms specifically designated to First Kids Boost: one gross motor room and one sensory room. Our hope is that these rooms will help your kids to regulate their bodies and emotions, allowing them and their families to learn about and truly feel the love of God every time they step through the doors of First Arnold.

      SEGUE

      SEGUE | MIDDLE SCHOOL

Segue exists to help these students develop and grow a faith of their own. We want
to create a safe place for them to begin thinking about
their faith. Not just as one
they inherited from their parents, but one they understand and grow in every day.
We do this through making real connections in both small groups and corporate
      worship,
as well as encouraging genuine relationships with other students and
      trustworthy adults.

      SUNDAY

Segue gathers on Sunday mornings in the Upper Fellowship Hall at 11:00AM to join together in corporate worship, and we end in the Lower Fellowship Hall in small groups, which are divided by grade and gender.

On Sundays, we teach from The Gospel Project curriculum and meet in our small groups each week. This is a 3 year curriculum that walks through the Bible and looks at how everything from beginning to end points to Jesus and the cross.

      WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday nights, we gather in the Lower Fellowship Hall at 6:30pm. During our time together, we’ll look at foundational Biblical principles and discuss how they relate to the student’s everyday lives. Whether it’s their family relationships, social pressure they face at school, or struggling to find their place in the world, students will be challenged to find their identity in Jesus alone.

      SYNERGY

      SYNERGY | HIGH SCHOOL

At Synergy, we want to help high school students apply their faith to their lives.
The main avenues we do this through are small groups, worship, large group teaching,
      Synergy events, and mission opportunities.

      We encourage students to:
             • Gather together in worship and community
             • Grow in God’s word during small group, large group and personal time with God.
             • Go on mission to share the Gospel that has changed their lives

All this, to glorify God with a faith that is lived out in everyday life.

      REVIVE

The collegiate ministry is a part of the Next Generation team and is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of college-aged young adults, ages 18-25.
We do this through a variety of experiences that help college-aged young adults nurture a relationship with Christ in a loving community,
as they navigate the challenges of this pivotal life-stage.

On Sunday mornings, Revive meets in the College Building (located between lot H and G) at 9:30AM for a time of community and Small Group Bible study.
This is a great place to enjoy a coffee, meet peers and study God's word in a small group.

We teach from The Gospel Project curriculum each week. This is a 3 year curriculum that walks through the Bible and looks at how everything from
beginning to end points to Jesus and the cross.

tunes. Tyler is a jack of all trades (one time he had a dance blog) and in addition to leading our college ministry,
he works full time at a financial planning office in town. We are grateful for Tyler’s heart for the college aged
young adults and he is focused on providing a safe and supportive community for students as they navigate
their new stage of life. The Revive Tribe is excited for you to join us!

      TRUNK OR TREAT

On Sunday afternoon October 24, from 3-6pm, we will host a tremendous community family event - our annual Trunk or Treat. Not only will we have lots of candy for the kids, we will have fun inflatables for preschool and elementary age children, a petting zoo, pony rides, stilt walkers, jugglers and performances by Kinetic Tapestry Circus Troupe. All of the above is FREE!!!! There will also be food vendors with food items for sale.

Church Members: To make this a success, we will need lots of help. Please donate candy in the designated areas of our church lobby beginning October 3. If you would like to decorate your vehicle in a fun theme for the event or volunteer in other areas, please scan or click the QR code below.
