Sam and Jessica Jakaitis' (of In His Hands Orphanage) primary goal is to provide a safe, God-centered home and family environment for orphaned or at-risk children, with the hope that each child would profess Jesus as Savior and Lord before leaving the orphanage. They are committed to creating lasting change for vulnerable children in their community and desire to serve as Jesus’ hands while sharing the heart of Christ with the unloved, unwanted and forgotten.

Currently, the orphanage is home to 42 children. All children attend school and church at Grand Savanne Christian Church and in addition to after-school tutoring, the children have Bible study three nights a week and the opportunity for English classes.

Sam took his first trip to Haiti in 2011. After just one trip, he knew he wanted to live in Haiti as a missionary. He met Jessica, who also had a heart for international missions, the following year. They were married in 2013 and living in Haiti as full-time missionaries by 2014. They have three daughters and a son: Winnie and Roodnaille, two girls Sam met during a VBS program his first trip to Haiti, Elise who was born in October of 2015 and Joseph who was born in October of 2017. Sam and Jessica have been in Haiti since the construction of the orphan home. They have worked overseeing construction, hiring staff, taking care of the children that come to the home, getting child sponsorships, setting up mission teams visits, and granting microloans to local businesses and business startups.
