The Davidson Family Life Center offers an array of equipment to help you reach your fitness goals. The fitness center includes a cardio area and a three room weight room. The cardio area contains equipment from True, Star Trac, and Cybex; this includes two bikes, six treadmills, and six ellipticals.

The three weight rooms contain strength equipment, free weights, and functional training equipment. Strength equipment consists of Nautilus, Cybex, Bodymasters and Maxicam machines for every body part. Free weights include dumbbells, barbells, benches, leg press, squat rack, curl bench, cable cross over machine and a smith machine available. Our functional equipment consists of physioballs, medicine balls, weighted bars, step boxes and even a punching bag. A short fitness orientation gives you access to all of this with no membership fee.

Indoor Track

Enjoy the indoor walking/jogging track where eighteen trips around equals one mile. The track offers 3 lanes to accommodate traffic from slow to running. Strollers are welcome on the track unless extremely high traffic makes them dangerous to walkers. The walking track is open and available anytime the Family Life Center is open to the public.

There is no charge to use the track but acquiring an ID card is mandatory. There is no charge for the first card issued.

Get the results you’ve been looking for! Come have a blast with this progressive, multi-level, personally-customizable tune-up for your body’s mechanics that targets every major muscle group from head to toe and optimizes your body’s muscular strength and endurance!

This class works muscles in every way possible. It is designed to build strength, increase flexibility, increase your bone density and decrease your body fat by increasing lean muscle. You will use hand weights, weighted bars, tubing, medicine balls and your own body weight to change the shape of your body by stretching and strength. Note: The exercises can be modified by the instructor so you work at your own ability.

Low Impact Functional Training Now is the time to gain control of your life, body and health. This class is designed by a Personal trainer taking special care to meet students’ needs based on their individual ability. This easy to follow, fun, workout is focused on strength, balance, core training and static stretching to improve your health, tone your muscles, and strengthen your bones.

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

Is your goal to get stronger or move with more ease? This class is for you! If you are over 45 and want to gain muscle, increase flexibility, increase endurance and feel better all around, join us for 1 hour of fun. We will make the body you have work better and be stronger than ever before. Note: The exercises can be modified by the instructor so you work at your own ability.

Come join the fitness fun! We will maintain a steady increase in heat rate while stepping with upbeat music. We will include interval bouts of weight training intermittently. This class is designed for intermediate to advanced level participants.

Summer Body Ready
A high paced class that includes intense interval training, dietary help and strength training. If you put in the work, you will gain knowledge and the tools to get yourself ready for the summer months. This class will be offered for two sessions and be limited to the first 12 registered. This class is designed for people who are serious about being ready for the summer.

You asked for it; we made it for you! This is a cool down and stretch class that you can do immediately following Zumba®. Therapeutic stretching is a vital part of any exercise routine as it gives your muscles the ability to lengthen, to expand and restore after exercise. Plus: it feels so good for your mind, body & soul!

Women and Weights
This class is intended to introduce women to the weight rooms, making them familiar and comfortable. The instructor will assist members in strength training with step by step instruction in lifting weights with proper form. This class is intended for all levels of fitness: beginners, moderate, and advanced participants.

This is a feel-happy workout that combines a motivating fusion of Latin and international music with unique moves and dynamic combinations that allow participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the principle that a workout should be "Fun and Easy to Do" allowing Zumba® Fitness participants to stick to the program and achieve long-term health benefits in both body and mind. A mixture of body-sculpting movements with easy-to-follow dance steps, the routines utilize the principles of aerobic interval and resistance training. A combination of fast and slow rhythms tone and sculpt the body, maximizing caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.

M TH 6:30pm 7:30pm

A strength and conditioning program for students 12 to 18 years old emphasizing cardiovascular and muscular strength training for both the athlete and non-athlete alike. Whether you are a high school athlete or just getting started, this trainer will take you to the NEXT LEVEL. This program is great for all striving to possess more speed, explosiveness and power. Workouts include using calisthenics, weight training, power packed agilities and plyometrics.

The Family Life Center offers three quality weight rooms with a variety of equipment and a cardio center as well as an indoor walking/jogging track.  To access the fitness facilities, a short orientation is required but there are no membership requirements and no monthly fees.  Regular fitness classes are offered to help you in your fitness journey.

Fitness FAQs

What are the fees to use the facilities?
There are no monthly fees to utilize the walking track, weight rooms, cardio center or gymnasium.

Do I have to be a member of the church to access the facilities?
No. There are no membership requirements. In fact, approximately 80% of all Family Life Center guests are not associated with FBC Arnold.

When are the facilities available to use? (Hours vary with seasons)

Fitness Orientations
What must I do to get access to weight rooms and the cardio center?
All fitness room users must be at least 14 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and attend a scheduled fitness orientation class.  Children under the age of 18 must report to the FL registration desk with their parent as the parent shows proper ID.  Register for an orientation in person at the Family Life registration desk and present your driver’s license.  We’re sorry; we cannot take phone registrations at this time.

How long is the fitness orientation?
The class is very informative and lasts about 1 hour or less.  This is a classroom setting with a qualified instructor.  This class is designed to make you a legal user in all fitness areas, inform you of all house guidelines as well as safety measures.  Please remember to bring your driver’s license with you when you register for the orientation class.  PLEASE ARRIVE 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR CLASS TO FINALIZE PAPERWORK.

How do I gain access after I have completed the fitness orientation?
After completing the class, your instructor will sign off on your paperwork and you can then proceed to the registration desk to get your ID card made.  ID cards are mandatory for all fitness users.  When you come in to use the fitness facilities, present your ID card to the desk worker and they will exchange it for a fitness room key and a towel.

ID Cards
Who must have an ID card?
As of Jan. 1, 2012, all those wishing to utilize the gymnasium, weight rooms, walking track and cardio center will be required to have an ID card.  ID cards are a security measure and help us to know who and how many are in the building should an emergency occur.  ID cards are created for those taking the fitness orientation immediately after the class.  For those wishing to access only the track, basketball gymnasium or general facilities, a registration form can be completed any time and presented with a valid driver’s license. Your card will be ready the next business day by 2pm.

Is there a cost for the ID card?
The first card is compliments of FBC Arnold.  Replacement cards are $5.

Exercise Classes
What is the cost for fitness and exercise classes?
Cost vary by the number of classes you take each week and are based on a 7 week session.

Do you offer other types of classes?
Yes we offer gymnastics, martial arts, and basketball camps as well as seasonal sports.

How do I pay for classes?
You can pay for sessions directly online with a credit card or at the front desk by check or cash.

Where do I park?
Park on Lot J and enter the main doors of the Family Life Center. Lot designation signage is located on light standards on each lot.

Where do I go once I arrive?
All participants must check-in at the Family Life Center Registration Desk on the main level before going to class. An attendant will direct you to your class once you’ve checked in.

Do I need to be early?
Yes, classes start on time and if there is a line to check in, traffic, or parking issues, arriving 10 – 15 minutes early is beneficial.

What should I wear?
We want you to be comfortable. Most classes are co-ed classes and because we desire to honor God with our bodies, modest attire is required. Please wear shirts with sleeves, cover the mid torso and spandex with comfortable loose fitting apparel. No open-toe footwear to better protect your feet.

What do I need to bring?
A hand towel and water bottle is suggested. If taking any of the fitness classes, you will need an exercise mat or a large beach towel. You can purchase here at the Family Life Center Pro Shop

What if I have health issues?
If you have (or have had) issues with your heart, breathing patterns or stability, please bring associated tools (cane, heart rate monitor, inhalers etc), and discuss with your instructor.

Do I have to keep up with others in the class?
No. Don’t feel compelled to keep up with others. Your instructor is able to work with all levels of experience. See your instructor if you have limitations or health issues.

Ready to begin a workout program but not sure where to start?

You can start with a one on one or small group personal training sessions with a certified trainer or for $20 you can do an equipment orientation to learn to properly use the equipment and workout on your own.
